The Original Cast of Grease Then and Now

“Why this car is systematic! It’s hydromatic! It’s ultramatic! Why it’s a grease lightning!” First released as a musical in 1971, audiences fell in love with Sandy, Danny, the sassy Pink Ladies and the leather-clad T-Birds as Grease became a box office hit in 1978 earning it the title as the most-watched film of the year.

Filled with stars like John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John and Stockard Channing, Grease tells the story of two teenagers who fall in love one summer only to discover the next fall that they’re both students at Rydell High. Add in beloved songs like “You’re the One that I Want,” “We Go Together,” “Greased Lightning” and “Beauty School Dropout”, and it’s no surprise why audiences found themselves happily singing along in what would become the second highest selling soundtrack in Hollywood history.

So, with Grease as a fan favorite even today, we couldn’t help but wonder if the cast saw as much fame as the movie and music. While a few of the cast members reprised their roles in the 1982 sequel, we decided to take a look back at history ourselves to see what the Grease cast has been up to since the film’s first release. From Frenchy and Rizzo to Kenickie, Danny and Sandy, let’s take a look at the original Grease cast from 1978 and see where they are now.
